Description

The City of Caldwell Street Department is looking for a Road Technician II to join their team. Individual performs manual labor and operates a variety of equipment to construct, repair and maintain the City’s streets, curbs, sidewalks and drainage systems; performs related work as required; operates heavy equipment; performs related work as required.

The principal function of an employee in this class is to perform manual work associated with the construction, repair and maintenance of the City’s streets, curbs, sidewalks, street signs and drainage systems. Sweeper Operators are in this job class. The work is performed under the supervision of the Streets Superintendent. An employee in this class may be assigned to one or more specific areas of responsibility. Principal duties are performed in an outdoor environment, which may involve adverse weather conditions, roadways, and related hazards.

Minimum Qualifications

Education, Training and/or Experience Required:
  • A minimum of two years of work experience demonstrating proficiency in the operation of light and medium equipment and tools. (At least six months as a Road Tech I level will qualify).
Licenses, Certifications and Other Requirements:
  • Must be 18 years of age and have a valid driver's license.
  • Possession of State of Idaho Class A CDL, No Restrictions with Tanker Endorsement.
  • Flagger certification.
  • CPR certification.
  • First aid certified
  • Position is subject to on-call and service response within a specified amount of time.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment background check, drug testing and physical.
  • DOT random drug testing.
Preferred:
  • Additional Endorsements: Doubles/Triples; Hazmat
