Summary of Position The City of Marshall is looking for dependable, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable individuals to officiate youth and adult sports for the Marshall Community Services athletic leagues. Applications for Official positions will be accepted on a year-round, continuous basis. SUMMARY OF POSITION Position is responsible for detecting infractions of rules and deciding penalties according to established regulations.

Officials are needed for the following: Youth Officials for Baseball, Basketball, Football, Softball, and Volleyball High School Intramural Sports Officials Adult Basketball League Officials Pay rates are based upon depending an official's qualifications and experience: Intramural: $15.00 - $21.00 per game Volleyball Official: $15.00 - $21.00 per game Basketball Official: $30.00 - $36.00 per game Softball (MSF Certified): $25.00 - 31.00 per game MSHSL Baseball: $60.00 per game MSHSL Football: $60.00 per game MSHSL Softball: $60.00 per game Essential Functions Maintaining standards of play and to ensure that game rules are observed. Signal participants or other officials to make them aware of infractions or to otherwise regulate play or competition. Inspect sporting equipment/or examine participants in order to ensure compliance with event and safety regulations

Keep track of event times and elapsed time during games, starting or stopping play when necessary. Resolve claims of rule infractions or complaints by participants and assess any necessary penalties according to regulations. Verify and/or compile scores before winners are announced.

Reporting of complaints made and actions taken or needed such as disciplinary actions. Teach and explain the rules and regulations governing each specific sport. The duties listed above are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed.

Qualifications and Competencies MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS A. Must possess a thorough knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies and techniques of the sport.

B. Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coaches, fans and players. Prior experience preferred.
