Job Summary:


The Hernandez Lab in the Department of Medical Physics is recruiting a Scientist I to contribute to efforts related to the development, funding, and translation of radiopharmaceutical agents for imaging and therapy. The individual will organize and coordinate studies within the laboratory and with collaborators. The candidate will lead projects developing and evaluating new radiopharmaceuticals for imaging, radiolabeled with radiometals and F-18. Projects will require expertise in imaging acquisition, processing and analysis, and data interpretation and presentation. This individual is expected to support the preparation and submission of potential clinical trials and federal grants to support them.

Responsibilities:


Identifies research problems, designs research methodologies, performs research, and helps to prepare the results for presentation to professional organizations or for scholarly publications to help advance research.
10% Assists with the identification of research problems and the development of research methodologies and procedures
40% Collects and analyzes research data, conducts experiments and interviews, and documents results according to established policies and procedures under general supervision and limited responsibility


10% Conducts literature reviews, prepares reports and materials, and disseminates information to appropriate entities
10% Attends and assists with the facilitation of scholarly events and presentations in support of continued professional development and the dissemination of research information
20% Writes or assists in developing grant applications and proposals to secure research funding


10% Serves as a main point of contact and liaison with internal and external stakeholders providing information and representing the interests of a specialized research area

Education:


Required
PhD in Medical Physics, Imaging Science, or related field.

Qualifications: Required:


- Proficiency in SPECT/CT and PET/CT imaging in mice and larger animals.
- Knowledge of clinical nuclear medicine imaging and radionuclide dosimetry.
- Ability to coordinate and execute complex, time sensitive experiments, involving multiple parties.


- Strong motivation for pursuing translational and clinical research
- Record of scientific publications, scholarly presentations, grant submission, and working in a diverse scientific environment.

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.
