Frontend/Full Stack Developer for Sports Tech Startup (Remote, Part-Time) ID- 1014

About the job

Join at the Perfect Time

At OverBoard Sports, we're transforming how fans experience sports through our unique fantasy sports platform that prioritizes engagement and social connection. Founded by four college friends who saw a better way to enjoy watching games together, we are creating a platform that keeps the excitement alive throughout the entire game—not just until your first bet loses.
Our MVP is already live in the App Store with 1,000+ downloads and 6,000+ game entries created. We've successfully raised pre-seed funding and assembled an advisory board with many years of combined experience in sports, entertainment and entreprenuership.
Now is the perfect time to join us as we prepare for our next funding round.

The Role: Building Our Social Experiences

We're looking for a talented Frontend or Full Stack Developer to help us accelerate our growth over the next 3-6 months. You'll be instrumental in developing the social features that will transform our current MVP into a truly community-driven platform.

What makes this opportunity special

  • Work with well-defined requirements and a clear project plan
  • Join an existing tech foundation (our game mechanics are already built)
  • Create features that directly impact our next funding round
  • See your work enjoyed by users immediately
  • Potential to grow with us beyond the initial contract

Who This Role Is Perfect For

  • Someone who wants to create meaningful impact and see their work enjoyed by end users
  • A developer seeking a remote project with flexible hours
  • A builder who can deliver quality work quickly while managing technical trade-offs
  • A sports enthusiast who understands the vision of what we're creating

Must-Have Skills

  • Expertise in React and/or React Native development
  • Strong TypeScript skills
  • Problem-solving mindset
  • Ability to balance quick deliveries with technical debt
  • 15-40 hours of weekly availability

Bonus Skills

  • Experience with Redux
  • AWS services familiarity
  • Infrastructure as Code experience (AWS CDK, Terraform)
  • GitHub workflow proficiency
  • Familiarity with our game (we'd love if you tried it first!)

What We Offer

About OverBoard Sports

We believe in creating competition, connection, and community through shared experiences. Our platform isn't just another fantasy sports game—it's designed specifically to optimize for engagement and social connection, bringing the excitement of big games to every game.
We saw the limitations of traditional sports betting: parlays that become worthless after one missed leg leading to a lack of engagement, and experiences that aren't collaborative by default. OverBoard Sports addresses these issues by combining a engagement-focused game design with top-tier community features.
